Why Volunteer for The Toy Library Swap&Play Events? There’s nothing quite like the buzz of a Toy Library Swap&Play event. These vibrant, community-driven gatherings bring families together to share, swap, and celebrate the joy of play, while making a real difference for the planet. Support a Powerful Cause
The Toy Library is Ireland’s first circular economy platform for toys, helping keep pre-loved toys in use and out of landfill. By volunteering, you play a direct role in making sustainability accessible and enjoyable for families. You’ll help create moments where children discover “new” toys and parents experience the ease and joy of sustainable living.
Make a Real, Visible Impact
At every event, you can see the difference you’re making. From organising toy swap areas to assisting with our various stations, your contribution helps create a smooth, joyful experience for attendees. Each Swap&Play concludes with a social impact report where volunteers can see in real numbers the tangible impact of the day! Each toy rehomed is one less item going to landfill, and you’re part of that impact.
Feel Supported Every Step of the Way
We make sure you feel confident and prepared before the event even begins. Volunteers are supported by an Event Manager who will guide you through everything you need to know. You’ll be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group for easy communication with the full volunteer team, making it simple to stay informed and connected.
Before the event, you’ll also be invited to a short volunteer Zoom call. This is a great chance to meet the Event Manager, a member of The Toy Library team, and your fellow volunteers. You’ll learn more about the event, get clarity on your role, and have the opportunity to ask any questions, so you arrive feeling ready, comfortable, and part of the team.
Experience the Energy of a Live Event
Each Swap&Play event is a lively, well-organised experience. Volunteers are involved in:
- Setup (30 mins – 1 hour before): Preparing stations, organising toys, and getting everything ready for families to arrive.
- Live Event (anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on event style): Volunteers will be assigned a role before the event, supporting check-in, check-out, toy check, managing the toy swap area, assisting activity stations like Eco Crafting, the Teddy Bear Hub, or the Eco tattoo station.
- Clean-Up (30mins – 1 hour after): Packing up, sorting toys, and leaving the venue tidy.
This hands-on involvement gives you a full behind-the-scenes experience of a successful community event.
